Company Overview
Nature First Professional Tree Care & Management was
first envisioned in late 1999 and officially started up
in February of 2000. The two primary partners, MiMi Scoppettone
and Jeremy Nama, had worked together in the tree industry
in San Jose for ten years prior to forming their own company.
MiMi had owned and operated Far West Nursery (a retail nursery
and garden center) since 1975, when she shifted her focus
to the tree industry, joining Corporate & Commercial
Services, a fledgling tree company in San Jose, in 1990.
Quickly becoming a Certified Arborist, she participated
in CCS' early years, eventually seeing them grow to twelve
crews and becoming San Jose's premier tree company.
As CCS' top selling agent, MiMi supported the tree crews,
which included the Nama brothers, Jeremy and Joe, the top
tree climbers in the area. She and Jeremy talked at various
times about starting their own company, and when they finally
did, they brought along Joe, their first employee, also
a Certified Arborist, as crew foreman.
When MiMi and Jeremy, along with their spouses, Dick and
Amy, formed Nature First, right from day one, following
a well-thought-out business plan, the partners met their
projections and have never fallen below their anticipated
revenues. Even their projected down time, the winter months,
has become an optimal income producer due to the overflow
of emergency jobs.
Nature First prides itself on offering high quality tree
services at very competitive prices. Among the primary goals,
education of the public as well as its own employees continues
to be paramount, with the company adding Certified Arborists
at every opportunity.
